Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at wckcdirector@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

White County Kindness Coalition is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit that exists to meet real needs through kindness—by mobilizing people, resources, and community partners to help neighbors in White County and nearby communities.

No. WCKC is a community nonprofit.

Many of our volunteers and supporters come from churches (because churches are full of people who like to serve), but WCKC serves anyone and partners with many kinds of organizations.

We focus on practical, real-life help. Examples include:

  • Basic household needs (food, hygiene items, diapers, etc.)

  • Help during a tough season (temporary hardship, crisis support)

  • Connecting people to existing local resources that already do great work

  • Volunteer-based help when appropriate

As we grow, our capacity will grow—but we’re starting small and staying responsible.

Typically, no.

When possible, we help by providing needed items or services, or by connecting someone to trusted partners who specialize in financial assistance.

This protects donors, protects the integrity of the organization, and helps us ensure support is used as intended.

WCKC exists to help people facing a legitimate need. That includes:

  • Individuals and families experiencing financial strain

  • Seniors on a fixed income

  • Single parents in a tough season

  • People recovering from crisis or hardship

  • Others who are facing temporary difficulty

We do our best to help, but we also have to work within our resources.

This is a fair question—and we take it seriously.

We use common-sense steps such as:

  • Basic intake questions

  • Requests through trusted community referrals when possible (schools, churches, local orgs, etc.)

  • Partnering with established organizations instead of duplicating what they already do

We are here to help people—but we also protect donors and the mission.

If you are in immediate danger or need urgent help:

  • Call 911 for an emergency.

  • For local assistance resources, call 211 (United Way resource line).

WCKC is not an emergency response agency, but we can sometimes help with non-emergency needs when capacity allows.

Right now, the best way is to:

  • Contact us through the Contact page, and describe the situation briefly.

As we grow, we may add an online request form with clearer categories.

Yes.  Teachers, pastors, relatives, neighbors, and friends often see needs before anyone else. You can reach out on someone’s behalf, and we’ll follow up appropriately.

Yes. We treat requests with respect and discretion.

We do not publicly share names or personal details. Any stories we share (if we ever do) will be shared carefully and respectfully, and often without identifying information.

Your donation goes toward meeting real needs in our community—either through:

  • Providing items or support directly, or

  • Supporting partner organizations and efforts that are already working well in our area

We also maintain basic administrative costs needed to function responsibly (for example: website, payment processing fees, and compliance).

Yes. White County Kindness Coalition is a 501(c)(3) public charity, and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Yes. You should receive an automatic receipt after donating. If you ever do not receive one, contact us and we will help.

Yes—sometimes.

Because storage and distribution can become complicated quickly, we may limit item drives to specific needs and seasons.

If you want to donate items, use the Contact page and tell us what you have in mind.

Yes—and volunteering will become a bigger part of WCKC as we grow.

If you’re interested:

  • Use the Contact page and tell us what kind of help you can offer (hands-on service, organizing, deliveries, admin help, etc.).

Absolutely. We love working with local businesses and community leaders.

Partnerships can include:

  • Sponsoring a local need

  • Matching donations

  • Providing discounted services or goods

  • Volunteer days for employees

Use the Contact page and tell us what you’d like to explore.

No. Our goal is the opposite.

WCKC exists to partner, promote, and strengthen what’s already working in White County. When another organization is already doing something well, we’d rather come alongside them than compete.

We are currently working toward partnership conversations with NeighborLink so that White County residents can benefit from proven systems that connect needs with volunteers.

As soon as anything is official, we’ll announce it clearly.

The best way is to follow our Facebook page and check back on the website. As activity grows, we’ll share updates and community opportunities.

Yes. Reach out.

Even if we can’t meet the need directly, we may be able to point you to someone who can.
